The Bahias de Huatulco National Park
Bahias de Huatulco National Park – Located in the town of Santa Maria, west of Santa Cruz. This is an important protected area. This park covers over 29,000 acres and 9,000 lowland jungle plant species in its gallery forest and mangroves.

Near the coast, there are 264 mammal species, including armadillos and white-tailed deer, and 701 bird species, such as hummingbirds, pelicans and hawks. The park also has 470 reptile species, including black iguanas, salamanders and snakes. Off the coast you can spy dolphins, whales and turtles, depending on the time of year. Scuba Diving and Snorkeling in Huatulco Mexico

Huatulco is the ideal destination for scuba diving and snorkeling. Here you’ll find coral reefs that are the natural habitat of such species as angelfish, sea snails, crabs, puffer fish, marlins and turtles. You can also explore the remains of sunken ships.

Santa Cruz Beach is located 2 1/2 miles from Tangolunda. Thanks to the abundant marine life in the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the pleasant climate, this beach is excellent for scuba diving and snorkeling. Here you’ll find a large marine park and coral reefs about 330 feet off the coast.

San Agustin Beach is located 22 miles west of Santa Cruz Huatulco. This beach of fine sand stretches about 4,950 feet. In its crystalline waters you can go diving and snorkeling along a white reef. You also can see the remains of a sunken ship.

La Entrega Beach is Located 1 mile from the town of Santa Cruz. In the calm crystalline waters of this beautiful beach you can observe yellowtail, skipjack and pardo. The beach has restroom facilities, showers and rentals for free-diving gear.

Arena Beach is located on the western end of the Conejos Bay, about 660 feet from Blvd. Benito Juarez. This white-sand beach with clear green-blue waters is a great spot to observe sailfish, dorado and roosterfish. You can rent snorkeling and scuba diving equipment on the beach.

The Bays of Huatulco Boat Tours – The best way to tour Huatulco’s nine bays is by boat. If you want to take in a beautiful sunset, we recommend that you take a day cruise. Begin your tour in Santa Cruz, where you can admire the beautiful natural scenery of the beaches and bays. Then move on to the Organos Bay, where you’ll see unique rock formations at the Bufadero and Cara de Piedra. You can also make stops at the marine parks and do some scuba diving at the coral reefs, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular marine life. After that, you can eat delicious seafood dishes at any number of restaurants while listening to excellent music.
 
Huatulco Information Tourist Services

Huatulco has an international airport that receives flights from Mexico City and Oaxaca, and during the winter flights arrive from Toronto, Montreal, Chicago and Los Angeles. The following carriers operate out of Huatulco’s airport: Mexicana, Aeromexico, Continental Airlines and Aerocaribe.

Aerotucan, Magnitur and Viajes Liberacion provide local charters. By car, you can arrive from Mexico City by taking highways 95 and 200 (via Acapulco) approximately 580 miles. You can also drive to Huatulco  Mexico via the Mexico City - Oaxaca route to Pochutla, or the Istmo de Tehuantepec-Huatulco Highway, which is in much better conditions.

There is bus service from Mexico City, Acapulco, Puerto Escondido and Pochutla on the following bus lines: El Cristobal Colon and La Estrella Blanca and Gacela.
