Apple Vacation Huatulco Resorts

Apple Vacations already calls Mexico its top destination, but it is investing heavily in growing its Mexico offerings. Last winter the company signed an investment deal to fund the expansion of its hotel division, from nine properties to 26, over the next 18 months, a project that will increase substantially its Mexico holdings. Apple plans to grow significantly in Huatulco, where the government is funding the development of a major tourism site around nine bays on the southern coast. Apple’s hotel division, AMResorts, is reconstructing the Gala hotel for its Dreams brand, and building a property for its Secrets brand. Apple’s airline, USA3000, will be the first to fly into Huatulco.

But the Huatulco development is still in its infancy, according to Apple’s senior vice president, Tim Mullen. “The big story remains the incredible development ongoing in Riviera Maya and the areas north of Cancun in Playa Mujeres,” says Mullen.

“In fact, there will be more new rooms opening in 2008 in this region that there are total rooms in Jamaica. Imagine that. There will be more new rooms opening this fall in Cancun and Riviera Maya than total rooms available in all of the Virgin Islands. Why? It’s popular, and it delivers incredible value that people are happy with.”
