Huatulco Mexico 1983
In 1983 the first luxury hotels and a six-lane road network were built,
soon followed by an airport, golf course and marina. But for the
moment, Huatulco remains pleasantly undeveloped. So far, there are
three developed bays: Tangolunda which is the most exclusive, Chahue
which is still embryonic and Santa Cruz, where amenities are clustered
around the marina.
Until the early 1980's this group of nine interlocking bays consisted
of only one isolated fishing-village, with no water or electricity and
was solely accessible by a dirt path.
The terrain is formed by the rugged Sierra Madre del Sur, abutting the Pacific to create sandy coves. The lively village of La Crucecita is good for bars and restaurants and budget hotels. Surfing en Huatulco Mexico
